Just stumbled across the fact that OCS have just released a new album - Saturday.

Having been a fan of them in the past was interested to read some reviews on it but it seems that there aren't any. (well I found 1 that gave it 9/10 but was hoping for other opinions to balance against)

Have any of the Pistonheads massive purchased / heard it? What does anyone here think?

Just found some youtube videos but they are the classic mobile phone at the back of a crowd quality. - Does sound promising though.

I was not aware of this either. Would definitely be interested in giving this one a listen, but with caution, as I thought they went downhill after Mosley Shoals.

Album comes out on Monday. The reviews so far look promising, but I'll hold my own opinion until I've heard it.

Although saying that I'm off to the Barrowlands in Glasgow tonight to see them, can't wait! This'll be the 8th or 9th time.

This is such a problem with OCS. The band's earlier stuff - Mosley Shoals in particular - had such a good sound that most of the subsequent stuff has sounded a bit contrived. The album immediately afterwards (One From The Modern?) is rather underrated I reckon and the very last one had its moments, but the two in between were very dissapointing.

Very keen to hear the new stuff. Despite the mixed track record OCS is one of my all time favourite bands and I'll probably buy it either way. I'd love to see them live again too.

Digging this thread up and answering my own question.. finally bought the album today..
Listened to it a couple of times (not the longest album ever) and I'm very impressed so far.

Upbeat and good fun.. see the reviews on amazon.. they pretty much hit the nail on the head. Well worth buying IMO.
