Kerrang tv has seriously got crap.

Filled with fecking emo kids and today was the final straw! I turned it on and ashlee Simpson was on. Why the foo was that on kerrang?!
Used to get to magazines regulary too but they started getting filled with crap like panic at the disco and fall out boy.
Pisses me off that scuzz is the only decent music channel on sky if you don't want to hear emotional tools fighting for the charts.
Yes yes 0/10 more swearing needed etc etc

It may be owned by a big entertainment company I would guess. Is it the same company that owns most of the commercial music stations? I remember when the company that owns capital radio in London took over kiss fm they literally had an overnight clearout and changed all the playlists so that the old dance/rnb format was effectivly replaced by the same as that on capital. The music may have been 0.00001% along the spectrum towards the electronic or urban direction.

Yep. Tend to flick between Scuzz and Kerrang, but a lot of rubbish on both these days.
Also, fed up with these random countdowns all the time on Kerrang! Top 100 Albums You Must Download etc...
And the fact that they blatantly ignore great bands like Alter Bridge, Thunder, Tesla etc... but play the usual rubbish like Panic at the Disco and Metro Station - did you see they're crap cover of Last Xmas played non-stop recently - it made Wham look good!

Has anyone ever seen a Rush video on one of these so called metal channels - i realise Rush are considered more prog rock than metal, but you never know, Rush today Porcupine Tree and Amplifier tomorrow, if you've never heard of them, download the following Rush - Tom Sawyer, Porcupine Tree - Blackest Eyes and Amplifier - Boomtime, once you've heard these try the back catologues and you'll never ever listen to Paramore, Panic, Fallout, Evanescence et al again.

Sorry what i meant to say was find a group you like and find a connection to other music, for instance i found out that Alex Lifeson of Rush (my favourite band) had played guitar for Porcupine Tree on Anaethetize so i listened to them and now love them, their keyboard player Richard Barbieri was in my favourite 80's group Japan, coincidence? Amplifier had assistance on their first album from Oceansize, so i listen to Oceansize, try New Pin, it's a great song and so on and so on, don't rely on the MTV channels to spark any musicle excitement anymore, i think you have to go out and find good music new or old, alternatively ask me and i'll tell you what's good or not Both Kerrang! TV and magazine have always been aimed at the popular/commercial side of Rock/Metal. It's all about selling the most issues really, as mentioned elsewhere. They also have to pander to their supporters/advertisers. When they do/did put a more underground band on the front it would be usually under the pretence of shocking/attracting attention anyway. There has been quite good issues in the past but they're few and far between. Maybe it has got worse in the last few years, but I've not seen a dramatic fall in quality. Admittedly I probably watch it for 20 seconds a week while flicking through all the music channels..
Scuzz TV also has it's moments but it's also gone downhill since it's launch. To be honest when Sky Digital was launched MTV2 used to be the best channel for anything alternative (not just Rock/Metal), that was before any other Rock channels were available.
It does disappoint me that Total Rock Radio isnt available on Sky anymore, and that there isnt a more dedicated Metal digital radio station.

Agree with all of the above - Scuzz is tolerable mostly, but good at night.
Re: digital radio - can I suggest www.last.fm -pick a band and it plays similar artists.

I scrobble with Last.fm but dont really go for the radio - when I've used it in the past it's just not entertained me. I have too much new music to check out on my laptop anyway, but it used to be nice to leave it alone and try and find something on TV.Re: digital radio - can I suggest www.last.fm -pick a band and it plays similar artists.
Cheers for the recommendation though, now find me some cheap R888-alike tyres for my DC2

I remember similar comments in the early 90s when they stopped covering hair metal bands and starting covering Nirvana.HereBeMonsters said:
