It was something of an impulse buy, but I bought a bass earlier today. It's a Fender Squier P-Bass (I know Squier is a dirty word in some places, but it seemed to be a good deal on a clean second hand example...) For the time being I've got it plugged into my old Laney Hardcore 35w guitar amp, which seems to be quite addequate for my living room.

I am trying to be a bit more disciplined than I was when I learnt the guitar and avoid picking up too many bad habits. I couldn't help grabbing a few tabs off the net though and I've spent the evening murdering Californication and Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine. biggrin

Welcome to the world that keeps the tune together - I taught myself by listening to my fave tunes and playng along - although a Bass practice amp - however small - might save your guitar amp - I have a 15 Watt fender Rumble - rattles the bedroom walls!!!

I did the same thing a few weeks ago. I wandered in to the local shop with one of my guitars to sort something out, made a few enquiries about getting a bass to learn on and walked out with one. Really glad I did as I'm enjoying learning to play it very much indeed.

I got a mid 80s japanese made e-series fender p-bass special in black with no pick guard and a rosewood fretboard.
