Evening all
Thought I'd share my latest addition - I'd been looking for either a birth year or pre CBS Jaguar or Mustang for my 40th but couldn't find anything that met my standards (nothing particularly picky but original electronics and hardware were a must). Months of searching threw up either messed around with or vastly over priced guitars so I opted for this:
A limited edition Fender Jaguar American Vintage '62 Re Issue with the nitro thinskin finish and matching headstock in Fiesta Red:
and a bit of an arty one of my favourite guitarists playing his original one:
Cheers

Thanks guys - it was £1375 but it sounds and plays better even than the standard American Vintage which I guess is mainly due to the nitro finish and the extra attention to detail that comes with the team built guitars. Or it could of course be the dealer actually set it up well which would be novel as most don't!

Not my personal cup 'o char (I just cannot get on with Fenders), but she's a lovely looking thing.
Hmmmm. A 40th birthday prezzie was it????
Maybe, just maybe, I could convince the steering committee to get me a proper arch-top PRS.......
weird isn't it - you'd think one guitar was much like another but I can't get on with Les Pauls at all, I've owned three (I really want to like them) but can't get with them. Same with Telecasters...Hmmmm. A 40th birthday prezzie was it????

Anyways, yes I think it's a suitable milestone to reach to request a PRS...

Yup, deffo. I made the half-century this year, and rewarded myself with a Patrick James Eggle Saluda Cutaway. While we we in the guitar shop, Mrs Gaspode fell in love with the PRS guitars, on the basis that they look like tigers.Edited by Gaspode on Thursday 31st December 22:07
Well, I've got four months before I'm 40.
My current axe is a PRS Santana (basic version, flat top, noname pickups, noname pegs, no trem, no locking nuts). But it's the best guitar I have ever played; and that includes a limited edition Ibanez arch-top with smoked bookmatched maple top, MOP bindings, unmarked ebony board, a floating trem, and DiMarzio pickups.
I'm sure (!!) I can convince the steering committee that a "better" PRS will be a good investment.
Surely.

Why the ref to a 'flat top' ? Is this a copy PRS?My current axe is a PRS Santana (basic version, flat top, noname pickups, noname pegs, no trem, no locking nuts). It's this (identical, but sans trem):-
