Everyone was told on FB to buy it from anywhere but Amazon, not sure why.
Apparently it has to cost 40p to count in the charts. But then apparently Amazon make an 11p loss in order to make it count (and presumably you'll buy more expensive stuff too).I bought from multiple locations

Only 29p at Amazon.
It's very disappointing that a large number of the 880,000 who signed up on Facebook have failed to spend 2 mins spending 29p!!!

Could it be that people just don't care? As far as I'm aware, I've not heard the X Factor song. In what way is it going to change my life if it's number 1 or number 2?

Maybe Sony Records don't make as much money from Amazon sales? Given that both X Factor and RATM are on their label, they really can't lose from all this bks, but you couldn't blame them for using it to increase their profits even further.Kermit power said:

I just think the whole thing is bizarre. Of all the people buying this crap shouty rant, how many of them will ever actually listen to it more than once? It's crap! They must be loving the extra cash though.

Considering the track is probably 15 years old and still gets played, maybe one or two.It appears that Joe "no-one will remember me in 12 months time, let alone 17 year like RATM" McElwhatsit doesn't like his competitor:

Considering the track is probably 15 years old and still gets played, maybe one or two.I have all sorts of tastes in music, and I listen to stuff I like. Not once has anyone ever forced me to listen to X Factor. If it hadn't been for all this RATM crap putting it onto news programmes, I reckon I could've happily gone through my life without ever hearing it.
The people running this campaign thing are suggesting that Cowell has taken over the music industry, and that nothing else has a chance these days. bks.
When it comes down to it, it's the same old greed & envy reaction. Cowell has done amazingly well for himself, therefore people hate him, therefore want to see him knocked off the Christmas number 1 spot. In the meantime, Cowell and the record label laugh themselves to the bank because no publicity is bad publicity, and their sales are rocketing even higher.
It's all a joke!
The idea is good and well done if the Brit public manage to make the statement
But I have no interest in the charts and could not even tell you who last years Xmas no1 was.
The last Xmas No1 I remember was 'Feed the world' who pipped 'Last Christmas' to No1 and Wham had to endure a No 2

Sony are making a fortune of 30 somethings who have made numerous errors....first they believe the charts were better at xmas 20 years ago (they werent), secondly they believe the charts should still represent their views and not those of the kids (they dont...and never have) and lastly they believe they have a hope in hell of getting a campaign back by a few Internet geeks past a song born on a TV show with 19 MILLION viewers.
Oh....and they like the idea of still be relevant in society and able to have an impact. As this has shown....they do have an impact, but its been beaten by 13 year old girls.

I don't like either of the songs but I get the point.
Think of all the groups/singers you liked and bought when you grew up.
Then think of how many would have got through the circus that is the x-factor.
Pretty much none of them I would imagine.
Because of this "pretty people only" approach there's far more dross and far less decent music making it these days.
Who would have thought the buggles were spot on the money.
Video did kill the radio star.

Thats the reason I was told not to down load it from there.
Obviously a bad rumour.

You do realise the people who made that 'shouty rant' are much larger, more popular and successful (in terms of sales and wealth) than this X-Factor puppet ever will be?That is the point. It's not about whether you like the track or not, it's the backlash against the way the X-Factor promotion machine is being rammed down our throats to the detriment of other, more worthy musical causes. In essence, a piece of Saturday night telly entertainment is being used to distort the music scene.
Rage Against The Machine are the perfect vehicle to put that point across because, if you follow their standpoint, they are very anti this kind of thing. Their music might sound 'shouty', but the thought behind that music is supporting those who are oppressed.
