What software do you recommend and how would I go about making a 'clean' version of an explicit rap song?

Many Thanks

Do you have the original multi track?
Or at least the vocal independent of the backing track?
If not you are limited to creating a pause in the track or a sound effect over the track
If you can find a matching edit point with no vocal in the track you could paste a sample over the sweary bit.

I like it when they "reverse" the sample around the swearing part. It doesn't ruin the song but almost makes it an interesting feature.

Defo sounds like the way to go to me, obviously it depends on the track. The other way I would suggest is to slice the word into pieces and re-arrange them. That should mask the word as desired but if your clever make an interesting edit.

Ableton Live is your friend here mate. I could knock it up in about 5 mins I reckon. Whats the track by the way?

Many thanks all, will have a go. (djtex, feel free to do for me pretty please!!)

It's a new song from a mixtape*, uses Jackson's 'They don't care about us'to brilliant use as the hook and is really well produced but listening in car with young nephews etc at time so prefer clean version.

Ok, correct me if I'm wrong but it sounds as though the expletives on Track 3 have been dealt with already. I'll get to work on numner 10 now. Do quite like the track thoug, not my usual bag. But as you say cool use of the sample.

I take it you want the "n" word tweaked also?

Cheeky to ask for more :-) but, on track 10, the last verse is a tribute to Jackson so would be good if you could isolate that on its own. (I know a radio DJ on BBC Asian, sent him the track yesterday and he loved it and played it on who so he will likely play this on MJ's anniversary).

yes and yes please to the N word.

My nephews are under 5 and my sister in law will kill me if they happen to pick it up!

Ok no worries, there's also a reference to a euphimism for male naughty bits so will tweak that to. smile

Ahh this reminds me of my radio production days of physically reversing the profanity on 1/4" tape!
You'd be surprised at how recently that method was phased out. Editing tape + Stanley blade FTW! biggrin

I wouldn't worry about the swearing, the rest of it will disturb / corrupt the young audience,
Why so cynical? Everyone in this country has an equal right from birth.
It's just a shame f'wits from any creed seem to be so fertile.
I can't see it having any mainstream commercial value but I commend the composer on his own brutal observations.
Has anyone told the composer how great this country is.

Well, not sure whether my efforts were satisfactory or not, but a comment to say so, or maybe even a thank you would have been nice.

very happy! been listening to to them on repeat just now and exactly what I needed, sounds just like a radio version wgere its discreetly rubbed out swear words.

Also appreciate the trouble taken on the Jackson only verse- assumed you would just cut it at that point but you took the trouble to have joined the intro to it. clap

Many thanks.
