My band's single has recently been released. We've had a limited run of 7" 45s pressed up - really quite a cool feeling hearing that the first time! We're available on the normal download sites, but both tracks (it's a double A side) are up with videos on YouTube:

The Contessa: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENtYuoN8KSw

Snake Charmer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSX2MU26db0

See what you think smile

Good stuff - like it.

It's a lovely feeling when you get an album together, hear it mastered and then play it through as a whole.

Very chuffed for you.

How are the tunes written? Is it collaborative?

It is a great feeling, one of those magic moments in life was when our first box of singles came through. Putting an actual bit of chunky black vinyl on the turntable, watching it spin and our music come out the speakers was surreal, and fantastic!

The tunes are somewhat collaborative. There are 4 composers in the band with a 6/5/2/1 split on the album. About half of the 14 tunes were being gigged prior to recording. Those we pretty much recorded as is, with minor alterations and some additions in the studio. The other half were bare-bones compositions, one track (which ended up being an exercise in organised orchestral string chaos) became the title track but was a simple 2 chord groove idea when we first put it down.

The composition process was collaborative on those songs, full of experimentation in the studio, writing horn arrangements on the hoof, trying new things, new sounds, new instruments - a really fantastic experience, and one that will have been worth the time and expense, even if nothing comes of it.

FWIW, very very cool I thought.

I've just had a look on 'tube at your other tunes, and I for one will be popping across to the nearest available gramophone emporium (whether online or highstreet) to purchayse your first long player. Keep us all updated on the release.

Good work, Sir.
