I use 'easy youtube video downloader' for firefox, and it has good quality. On a hd clip it will play very nicely on my 42 inch TV.

You'll find a lot of them don't work anymore as youtube has been tinkering.

This one does though (without the need to install anything): www.icyvideo.com

VLC is superb. Pretty much plays everyhting under the sun. I put a vinyl in my cd slot, and it played it, is so versatile.

I use the DVD Videosoft Free Studio.

Download it from here:

http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/

It's a whole suite of programs, all free including updates. The ones I use most are the YouTube Downloader, and the YouTube to MP3 converter - useful if you only want the music and not the video. This can also save as a WAV file, or burn direct to a CD.

Don't believe it.. At no point in my time on PH has the search function ever been useful... I don't believe you. We want proof, and not just hearsay. We need documentation in triplicate, video evidence, eye-witness testimony, and a letter from your mum.

On Firefox Download Helper is great for downloading stuff off You Tube, with the free converter software it will display a logo in the corner, pay for the converter software and the logo is removed. from here

If you've got the latest free Real Player, you can download from YouTube (and many other sources). Just hover over the video and in the top right of the video will be a 'Download This Video' button. After you've done that you can then convert it to any numerous formats, an mp3 or to play on your iPod

hehe I was somewhat shocked too!

I think I happened to search for exactly the same string as the thread title (so naturally it came up half way down the results page).

Anyhow, it lead me to http://www.icyvideo.com and http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/ which combined do exactly what I want!
