Im sure its a great mix n all. But, err, isn't there certain legal issues with freely distributing other peoples music?
I don't mean to be rude, but this is the second time one of my posts has been hijacked in this way, and puts a negative spin on something positive I'm tryng to do. There are quite a number of people on Pistonheads who post mixes and I don't see them being questioned in this way. So in case you missed it, this is what I said last time...."This is a promotional mix, and is not for sale, if we were selling it the chances are the copyright people would be interested. But essentially we are not stealing revenue from them or anyone by doing this. All the records on this mix are not there in their entirety and our mixed, tweaked, re-arranged and layered with other records etc, the big problem is making available whole tunes that you don't own the copyright for, but essentially the single tracks on this mix are worthless to someone who wants a copy of "x" tune. In the dance music industry it has long been accepted that the one of the few ways to get ahead and succeed is to do this type of thing, so essentially a blind eye is turned. For years record shops would sell promo records even though they said "not for resale" on them, god knows I have hundreds of them. The producers look upon DJ's as a means to getting their music heard by a wider audience, as such we are very open and transparent about our tracklisting.
But I would please ask, that maybe in future rather than colour our thread with this seperate if not similar subject, that it was posted in a seperate thread. After all, we are really only hoping to entertain other likeminded people."

Well said!... It's for that reason that I've always included a tracklisting with mixes I've given out, even if it has given away some of my 'secrets' - it's only fair to give credit where it's due...I've yet to have a single complaint from anyone about using their tracks - and it doesn't seem to be down to it going unnoticed... I'll often get Myspace/ promo list adds from the label/ artist shortly after putting a new mix on the net (something I must get round to doing again soon actually - got a bit lazy this year!)
Back on subject - looks like a top set of tracks to me, just my sort of thing - will try to have a listen later!

thanks to the dullard idiot PJR making me aware of this thread with his self righteous thread in website feedback I'll download this for a listen If he'd shut up Id probably never have noticed this thread, he must be so happy. The fact that I'll probably buy any of the tracks I like from your mix on vinyl will be lost on him though.

Thanks man, hope you enjoy the mix, would love to hear what you think. He does have a point, and some forums do ban this type of thing, but ultimately it doesn't need to colour my thread.like you said though dance music revolves around DJ's making bootlegs and mixes to promote the records and the poducers, its not like they get played on radio one at lunchtime is it? His tone in the website feedback thread annoyed me, as if people doing DJ mixes are naughty schoolkids and he's the great white knight riding to the rescue of the poor record companies.

Have to say your right there mate, though I was a naughty school kid. Though not anymore, just a naughty man! Righto, here goes....
1st off, I know how much hard work goes into making these mixes, and I dont want to offend, but this mix didnt do anything for me. Maybe its an age thing, but, these days, I like my tunes to take me on a journey, and I found this mix too static. I like to stick an album on and let it happen, rather than think too much about whats coming out of the speakers (Im no expert, far from it). I found it hard to differentiate the tracks, it all seemd a bit samey (admittedly I only got about 40 minutes in)
Im abosolutely loving Andy's Quantum Insight as it takes me on a real journey, never knowing what's round the corner....bit of dreamy trancey vocals one minute, then some electro synth stuff going on...the whole mix moves about, up and down, in and out.
All IMHO of course and I openly admit I can never tell what is what gendre in dance music (apart from my good old days of playing REALLY hard House, but my ears cant take that these days). I like it a bit more mellow now.
Im sure others will love it, but it wasnt for me. I really do appreciate that you guys are working hard and sticking it up here for us to enjoy
I bet PJR was the school snitch

I appreciate the honest feedback, and yeah I freely admit this sound is not for everyone. For me it's less about the individual tunes and more about the overall feel, this is a pretty underground selection of tech house/technoey stuff. But is kind of representative in flow of what I would play if you came to see min a club playing for 5-6 hours. So with respect the first 40 mins is more the warm up. Might be worth checking seme of the stuff later on like the Tom Glass and Alan Fitzpatrick tunes, though I'm afraid you will never find me playing the dreamy vocals, sounds a bit old fashioned to me I suppose. 1st off, I know how much hard work goes into making these mixes, and I dont want to offend, but this mix didnt do anything for me. Oh yeah, we do work hard, I think I spent around 25-30 hours on this mix.
But hey your the punter, so I very much respect your view and appreciate you taking the time to check it out and feedback. Cheers

Dont get me wrong, Ive spent many a year listening to (and thoroughly enjoying) stuff that hasnt got a vocal anywhere to be heard. I also spent lots of hours in the underground London scene in the mid 90s so I have certainly have no objection to that sort of thing. Maybe I should take a brave pill and come listen to you play one evening/morning

I liked it, I do prefer it when the tempo picks up noticably later on usually but I liked this one a lot. Im sure there was a bit of out of synch beats at around 6 minutes though, still way better than anything I could manage!
Nope, not as such, thats actually the percussion on the original track, does sound a bit off time by kinda like it. Plus I am utterly meticulous about attention to detail especially with beat sync. Good spot though as I wondered whether anyone would comment on that section. Glad you liked. Gassing Station | Music | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
