off to see Joe Bonamassa in Southampton tonight looking forward to it very much indeed at my age I have seen most "rock legends" but he is an exciting new talent and IMHO right up there with the best guitarists around

Seen him 3 times in last 2 years, very very good, though better in small sweaty venues 600 people than the larger civic hall 2000+ people type venues, but sadly I suspect those days are gone now. Royal Albert Hall DVD worth buying though sound is a bit patchy at times

Dear steve y,

heard Tea for One on Planet Rock recently and bought You and Me on the strength of it.

He has learnt a lot from Robin Trower hasn't he?
Still good though,

regards,

I was quite keen on JB, but saw him live about a year ago and was strangely disappointed - he did a bit of playing with a theramin (shades of Page), and overall just wasn't as good as I'd hoped.

Carling Academy, Glasgow, about 700 people...

very much so, I thought he was stunning, especially Sloe Gin, the acoustic section and the Zeppelin encore complet with the flying V and theremin brilliant will definetly go and see him in Bournemouth in 2010!

I've not seen his show live, but he's on the radio at the moment.
That sound, it's certainly something special.

Before reading this thread I hadn't heard of Joe Bonamassa so went to the show in Belfast last night and it was fantastic. I've been lucky to have seen some amazing players over the last few years - but this was definitely one of the best performances I've been to. What a great vocalist too. The band were tight and their Dazed and Confused interlude seemed to out Zep the legends themselves. If I can I will go to the Dublin gig on Tuesday where I suspect the atmosphere will be even better.

I saw him in Wolverhampton back in April this year. What a breath of fresh air, and by crikey, could he play a guitar.

Very chatty with the audience as well, and the show was excellent. Good band he had, too.

Would not hesitate to go see him again.
