Right folks. I'm a pianist, I've played for years, mainly modern stuff. Have just got rid of my acoustic piano after getting rid of a load of analogue equipment.

Haven't owned anything that doesn't need microphones for years. I'm about to get myself a decent electric piano.

I'm wondering how I can utilise my computer to record, jam along with backing tracks (I've made) etc.

I have no idea about anything at all.

I like the idea of loops, so that I can get my improvisation absolutely 200% after a couple of years with insufficent practise.

Follow the link. You'll get sorted.

There is cheaper, as well as a lot dearer, but this would be agood start.

MIDI is yr friend, you can record many tracks and play back against and with yourself.

Most electric / electronic pianos / keyboards have midi in + out, connect up to a PC / mac, with a USB MIDI interface, get cheap / free sequencer software, there you are!

Thanks chaps.

I was thinking very bare bones. Pretty much drums and bass rather than going for incredible capabilities.

Cheers!

Band In A Box is worth checking out if you want something to jam along to.
