Ooooooh maybe 15 years ago, Roland brought out a digital piano keyboard for - maybe the 1st with a 'realistic key feel' using some weighted trickery. It wasnt a big boxed in unit, in fact was quite minimal irc. with built in speakers. Didnt cost a fortune maybe £1000 iirc
Anyone know what model it was?
cheers Ed

I know which one it was.... it was a 73 note (Low E) and had a really nice Rhodes sound. EP-7 rings a bell. The acoustic piano was pretty keyboardy.

Roland have made loads of stage pianos, keyboards with weighted keys etc, is there a specific reason you're wanting to know the model number of a 15-year old one, might help pin-point it.

Way back when, I tried one a few times & liked it. Liked it's feel, and simplicity. Expect has been superseded many times by now, so thinking may be able to pick one up for a pocket friendly amount.

If you look on Ebay for an 88-note Roland keyboard it'll have the same weighted action you liked.

The newer it is the more accurate the sound will be.

We've got an Roland HP337e and Mrs M says the feel is very close to a proper piano and the sound isn't too far off.

5/6 years ago £3/4k new so suspect sub £1k now on ebay..

Found it smile It is (or was) a Roland FP-1. Looking at the Roland site we're now up to FP-7 - just as I thought! Will be scouring the ads for an old one..
cheers

I will be selling a rather lovely Hp330e between now and Xmas. I am replacing ALL the hammer weights in the next few weeks, as 3 had snapped causing the keys to drop. After i dismantled the keyboard, i saw they all looked a bit 'delicate'. Costing a fair bit for a full set of 88 hammer weights, but the instrument will be bomb proof.

As Marcellus missus says - its about a close as you are going to get to the feel of a real piano - for under a grand. Its got a BIG sound too - loads of bass due to the 2 huuge internal speakers. Anyone else have one ?

Drop me a line if you are interested EdT!
Likely to be in the region of £800.

Also has a hand jack socket for head phones.... which once Mrs M forgot to use when she got home very late after a ste day in the office, had the head phones on, thought it was a tad muffled so turned it up, still muffled, turned up......... it was a neighbour 4 doors away who came round to ask her not to play so loud as it was after 23:00
