Modern bass players use so much sub in their sound.
I've seen a few live acts lately and although they appear to be using plenty of the neck they just sound like another bass drum ( kick drum for you youngun's )
Whatever happened to the players who had feel and texture in their playing, as someone who has been playing bass since the mid 60's across most genre's I'm very disappointed.
Please discuss and enlighten me.

Come on you lot, somebody must have an opinion.
When I saw Jerry Flowers about 12 months ago he sounded like he played one note all night, but he was all over the neck.
Now I know it would be easy to blame the man on the desk but I think Keith Urban could afford to spend a few bob to get it right so it must have been what they wanted.
