Don't read anything, just listen and then tell me what you think.

Once again, don't read anything on the page, just listen.

It's inoffensive, but not particularly unique or memorable. Why?

Sorry, but have to agree with the guys above. Technically very solid, but pretty generic.

OK, only asking hehe

It's a French rock group called Stonedrive which have failed to do well here. Actually rock in general fail to do well here unfortunately.

I was interested to know what the British public thought. smile

I quite like it. It sounds a little generic if I'm honest, but not a bad song by any means and quite polished.

Your band?

Horrid kick sound.

But frankly I've forgotten about it already. Very old fashioned.

If it's proper hardrock you're after;

Stonerider's 'Three legs of trouble' album is an absolute gem!!!
These guys sound like they've come straight out of the 70's/80's rock scene....except they are relatively new group - http://www.myspace.com/stoneriderband

Also, if you like your supergroups, check out 'Chickenfoot'!!!!!

Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani, Chad Smith, & Michael Anthony - http://www.chickenfoot.us/band/

Listening to Stonerider's MySpace stuff, I think you'd really like 'Stillwater'; a fictional band created for the film 'Almost Famous' and drawing heavily from 70s influences such as Led Zep. There was never anything released as an album and you can't buy it anywhere I've looked - however if you'd like it, there was a one-off 'bonus CD' that came in with the DVD. Email me through my profile if you'd like it and we'll sort something out. I've never been able to find out much about who was playing on it, or how the music was put together. Suffice to say I'd buy albums by whomever it was!

As a band they are no more but certain members of the group are forming a new group for which I should be having an audition as the singer.

I've got to say I'm massively dissapointed in Chickenfoot bearing in mind the calibre of the band members.

Agree re. Chickenfoot.

I'm listening on a few grands' worth of kit here and apart from the compression and general dog's ear that Youtube tends to make of audio, I don't mind the kick sound (and speaking as a drummer!).

The Stonedrive drummer pulls off a neat trick mid-song though hehe :

First he's right-handed (hi-hat to his left)...

Then for a fraction of a second, he goes left-handed (hi-hat to his right)!

biggrin

Driller, hope the audition goes well. As mentioned above, the sound is certainly cohesive and polished, but overall the song's a little generic. Will there be new material in the pipeline?

Ha, ha, I like what you did there hehe

For the new project it will be all new material, so if all goes well I may get a hand in myself.

Do you have any of your own stuff up somewhere?

No, I've not played in a long time unfortunately. Last band I was in kind of 'fell away' about a year ago, I never really got back into it all. They weren't really playing the music I wanted to play either. I keep saying I'll get back into something, but never actually getting there. Free time is the killer right now unfortunately. frown

I may be missing something here but what were they thinking?

Chickenfoot??

That's got to be one of the worst band-names ever! I don't care how good they may be.

ETA - I know the thread wasn't originally about them but since they were mentioned....biggrin

I've just sat here quietly giggling like a schoolboy - it's brilliant, and very much in the style of Tenacious D (which is a winner imo!)

As others have said, nothing special. Might do better in USA. Then again, it's all rap/R&B and pop over there, too.

Now we just have to wait until the movie comes out.
