I'm in the mood to listen to some Glam Rock / 60's/70's swing/rock stuff at the moment, but know nothing of the era (other than "listen to T-Rex"). Who should I be discovering?

At the moment I've got The Shins : Baby Boomerang (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rXQCCpO6Y0) playing followed by T-Rex : We Love To Boogie, Jimi Hendrix : All along the watch-tower and then... I need more!

For someone who knows very little of era's past other than the hits that are played now-a-days, who would you recommend? Who is still awesome today after 30years?

Cheers!

Once Hendrix is under your skin it's difficult to move on but here are some recommendations.

ELO, The Sweet, David Bowie, Mott the Hoople, Wizard, Slade, The Faces....

Prog. rock:

Pink Floyd, Genesis, Yes, Focus

As already said - don't do anything until you've checked out Cream though! wink

You can't do glam rock without Roxy Music. The thing is though, compared to a lot of 70s stuff, they sound much more grown up and contemporary, not really retro. Give em a go anyway:

Early Queen is excellent, (IMHO)... Queen, Queen II, News of the World, and Night at the opera
