On a similar note, just found out Sonic Youth are playing in London a week on Friday. Anyone got a spare ticket?

Didn't see them, but walked past the crowds and the ticket touts from the underground station on my way to the OH's gig at The Hootananny in Brixton on Friday. I actually had to explain to her who The Pixies were ...and she calls herself a musician!

Talking of OHs, my mate's wife went and was completely oblivious to the sheer quality of the gig. It was 'too loud and bassy' (god knows what she would have made of Leftfield in their day and she was wearing earplugs), and the visuals were 'too gory and unnecessary' (the Un Chien Andalou clip at the beginning). I nearly asked her whether she expected kittens from a band whose standout lyrics include 'got me a movie ha ha ha ho slicing up eyeballs ha ha ha ho'... rolleyes

Saw them last Tuesday.
Absolutely fantastic biggrin

Only way it could have been improved is if Art Brut were supporting, rather than Big Pink.

Small world, I too was at Hootenanny on Friday...

Seeing as Roddy's band is all male, she's in the Apochraphalites (sp?) and is either tenor or alto? (I think I've got my saxes right!?)
