Was recently reminded that Zero 7's new album "Yeah Ghost" has been released.

To be honest I've not heard good things about this and wondered if anyone had any opinions to offer?

Good? Bad? Totally different from their other stuff? A new departure? Lost their sparkle? etc...

Thoughts?

Wow! Zero 7 fans! I thought I was alone.

PH never ceases to amaze me.

I wasn't aware of the new album, will have to keep an eye out. Cheers for the heads-up! smile

I'm going to see them in Edinburgh too - they were awesome the last time they played. No Sia this time though....

I really like the new album. It's a departure from the previous work, but so were their previous albums from
what went before.

Track 5 is just amazing. Tracks 2, 3, 4, 7 and 11 are very very good too.

Buy it now! Track 7 in particular sounds fantastic when played loud.

ETA look out for their Glastonbury set on download and on Youtube - a masterclass with Sia, Tina and Mozez.

Tina Dico's solo stuff is worth a look too - very beautiful pure music. She also goes on tour in the UK quite a lot (including Edinburgh). Great intimate gigs.

Guaranteed to disappoint those looking for another Simple Things but shows evolution and I like the direction they took with it.

I think most of their albums are like that initially... they're all definitely growers though wink

Thanks guys!

I know a lot of people who didn't like the transition from Simple Things to The Garden but not quite so much noise and the grumbling I've heard for this.

I've managed to see Zero 7 three times now and the second time was definately the best, in support of When it Falls. The tour that accompanied Tthe Garden just didn't seem quite so engaging (the loss of Sia no doubt).

I've got a few other albums on the go at the moment so not in a huge rush to buy this. I might use it as the excuse to try spotify as someone has suggested smile

Somersault was always my favourite of this album, seeing this clip has made me think though. scratchchin

Is it me or do Zero 7 have a different lead singer? I'm not fond of the new album.

^^I haven't heard the new album yet, but from what I can make out - Zia doesn't feature on it.

If that is true, I would be quite sad as I love her voice and Zero 7 and her were a match made in heaven IMO.

I'll definately give the new album a go though. There's something very special about them.

Yep - great track. When I first heard it on the album, I thought Judie Tzuke was a guest singer.

And thanks for the reminder about the album being out - Zero 7 currently one of those acts that I'll just buy the album and listen to it.

Yes - Sia is off pursuing other projects - her solo albums are worth a listen but don't go expecting Zero 7esque stuff

Well I don't know what you thought of the gig EE, but I personally (and my mate too) thought they were feckin ace.

Plus the 'Yeah Ghost' stuff sounded way better live...then again so did most of their stuff.

And they played my fav track too woohoo
