OK if I was to teach someone to play guitar, what simple and famous songs would you recommend?
Right now I haave Green Day Time of your life and Bob Dylan/Guns n' roses Knockin' on heaven's door. I was also considering "Miss you" by the feeling, but I doubt they'll know it, being Italian and all.

Going for open chords and easy/slow changes. (The last part ruled out All along the Watchtower and Freefallin'

Songbird by Oasis. Only 2 chords, plus an inbetween chord when they get a bit faster.

Most U2 stuff from The Joshua Tree is based around 3 chords and as the learner gets more advanced you can slowly expand the same songs to encompass new stuff. I used Where The Streets Have No Name for this when a work colleague wanted some basic pointers, starting off with the root chords, easy build into 1st and 2nd position chords and until eventually playing it as The Edge does.

As was previously mentioned Oasis stuff is a piece of cake as well...

Cheers
