Have you noticed how some tracks don't sound right unless you play them really loud?

My kids have taken a likeing to "black betty" on the way to school... but I can't listen to it quietly... it has to be doorskin distorting loud, which means I get some funny looks from the other parents.

..oh well.. as long as my pair are happy!

So what else only works LOUD!

Spiritualized songs just don't work at anything below 11. Which is why their gigs give you a head ache!

Anything by Om.
A different kind of "Drum & Bass".
(Don´t wait for the lead guitar as there is none.)

If you like it, watch both parts as they like to play long and evolving tunes.

Depends on what one is driving at the time.

Old Landrover with big sound system: Ride of the Valkyries or Gregorian Plainchant with windows open and sound system at max. volume!

If you like deep throbbing basslines then I reccomend:

"Under the Influence" by the "Chemical Brothers"

Make sure you have a decent quality copy of the tune and a decent set of speakers. It does a really great 'sweep' from high to very low and then bounces/throbs along. Don't bother playing it out through laptop speakers or PC desktop speakers, you need either a 5.1 system or preferably something floorstanding.

Everything I listen to nowadays due to my diminished auditory acuity based on my lifelong adherence to the adage "if it's too loud you're too old."
