Going there tonigt. I hate Jazz. Will someone tell me that I don't have to wear a suit, and that there will be hot and freely available women there who also hate the freestyle wkfest that is jazz music? Please?

Or do I just start drinking now?

Black up and wear a smoking jacket. Or your going to stand out like a sore thumb.

And I have never met a single woman who likes Jaz.

I know nothing of Jazz, but believe these are somehow intrinsic.

You will be ok then. Take your sax with you.

Is it just me that confuses Ronnie Scott with the Scottish Ronnie (Corbett)?

Only ever been there for Salsa night so can't offer any insight I'm afraid.

The place is full of white people. I've only been once but I enjoyed it.
With regard to the wk style of jazz, I think you are thinking of the improvised style. A lot of jazz/blues is proper composed music, you'll probably get that on Fri night at RS.

I can assure you you will like it. There should be enough alcohol and plenty of the female pursuasion present to ensure trouble ensues and we are subsequently treat to one of your legendary post-weekend tales smile .

No suit needed, unless you have one of those suede/courdoroy/linen jobbies, in which case you'll look like you were born to be there.

I like it there. It's a bit more formal, and expensive/corporate there now, but the atmosphere is good (if a lot less smoky than it used to be). If you've booked you'll get a red velvet banquette or table to sit at, and you can get food and drink all night served directly to you by pretty waitresses. Can't guarantee what sort of music you'll get there, but go with an open mind, the last time I was there we were treated to a half reggae/half jazz piano fusion type stuff which was surprisingly good!

"Award winning Latin jazz pianist Alex Wilson has created a new twelve piece ‘Salsa Orchestra’ that builds on the dance club success of Alex’s third album ‘R&B Latino’ and his new Salsa CD ‘Inglaterra’ which combines hard hitting salsa, hip drum loops and powerful vocals from UK soul-diva, Aquilla Fearon and Latino vocalists Alfonso de Jesus and Elpidio Caicedo.

This is hot contemporary salsa with a drive and rhythm rarely heard in UK salsa bands. "

That's what you have to look forward to tonight...... sounds alright to me.

There'll be a fair amount of hot women but it's not really the place to meet them. Everyone will be sat at tables watching the musicians. It's cool though but seems to be missing some of the mystique of old (particularly since the smoking ban - a smoke free jazz club?!?)

I've met a fair old few as well. And one rather lovely girl at the moment, who's especially interested as a direct result of me being a jazz musician. Excellent!

Or, having spotted the jazz biscuit above - should that be Niiiiice...?!

Are you playing Ronnie Scott's tonight? If so keep an eye on her. Harry's in and his morals are questionable.

I went to a fantastic one in Copenhagen last year. I am told that because of its small size it is exempt from the country's smoking ban. Generally I despise smoking but somehow this place made it feel cool smile

The music was great - some sort of Latin Jazzy thing. Thought I would hate it, but I loved it.

The venue turned out to be the bar rather than the club, which was a bit disappointing. Pretty ordinary - but the staff were really friendly. Crowd was OK too.

Women were actually of a good standard. Went home with a New Zealander though, was rather hoping for Scandinavian after reading the posts above. I feel cheated by you people.
