Well, the other half wants to start learning how to play the drums! What's the best sort of kit to start with, and where can I find formal lessons for her?

Any other advice?

I would say depending on your budget probably a CB kit is the best starter kit, obviously it's not the best quality, but for £250 you can't go wrong.

Also lessons depend on where you live, if you live in the Berkshire area I can recomend formal lessons but if not I can't you sorry.
Best of luck.

Thanks for the response. What are CB drums? Can you recommend where to get them from?

Can you give me an indication of how much lessons cost?

Cb Drums are a maker of acoustic drum kits. I use a shop local to me called Drumwright, if you put it into google you can see their site. I'll dig out the bill for mine to tell you how much lessons cost roughly.

Hi,
Sorry for taking a while to get back to you. I pay 25 pounds per lesson. Group lessons are cheaper than indervidual. This might be different for your area as prices vary in different areas for various reasons.

These guys seem to do cheap drums kits for the beginner.

Hi - I'm not a drummer, but I came across this article a few days ago which might help you out:
