I saw them at Wembley and I said to my friend at time that I didn't think Noel would stick it out much longer before going solo.
To be honest though, the musicians in the band now were all assembled by Noel, so I would imagine that they will continue (under a new name?) just without Liam. No bad thing really.

sad news.
regardless of what people say, oasis wont be oasis without liams gurning and his stty attitude, hence the split.
ive seen many of the worlds so called best bands of the past 15 years live, and none were close to oasis live, i saw them at the opening gig of the recent tour, heaton park probably saw one of the best oasis performances, and im comparing that to maine road, knebworth etc etc.
good luck noel....

Yes, have seen them live 3 times, Madrid, Roundhouse & Wembley, and they've never failed to deliver the goods (and then some) despite all the attitude etc etc.regardless of what people say, oasis wont be oasis without liams gurning and his stty attitude, hence the split.

As mate said at Wembley this year - "it's karaoke for 80,000 people!"
Even as a big Oasis fan, I think it is long overdue. I saw their last gig at V festival. There was absolutely no chemistry on stage, they rattled through the set with Liam his out-dated 'hard man' act. Noel just hid at the side of the stage behind a speaker. No surprise when they didn't turn up for the Chelsmford gig on the Sunday.
I think Noel will produce some really good stuff on his own, even though he wrote pretty much all of Oasis' material anyway, but at least now he can explore his different influences.

Totally agree, I was also at one of the Heaton Park gigs which was absolutely immense. Like you said, I've yet to see or hear a band as good as Oasis. If it turns out that they're truly finished then I'm just glad I managed to catch their last home gig. I'm not surprised. I have a lot of respect for Noel, but Liam is a dick of the highest order. They've hated eachother for ages - if you read or hear any of their recent interviews (especially Noel's) that is pretty clear! A Noel solo album could be better than most of Oasis' recent efforts!
