"Its all smoke and mirrors"
Jean Michel Jarre is probably king of the laser. He even has a laser keyboard.
Pink Floyd's laser show was always pretty good too. Dave Gilmours Royal Albert Hall shows 2007 or 8 featured a fabulous laser show - and its very hard to do a good laser show in the RAH with audience levels being right in the sight lines..........
The laser show concept became somewhat passe during the 90's but are now making a bit of a comeback. Multi-head lasers and more colours rather than just good old green.

That's what I'm interested in; I've seen a couple on youtube, but I've no idea what is 'impressive' or not?OK, not strictly a laser show (Although there were lasers in it) - more of a light extravaganza, but I worked at an event a while back with lighting rigger/electrician who had worked on Pink Floyd's "PULSE" gig at Earl's Court in 1994.
Amongst other things, he was responsible for the "blinders" at the stagefront - which apparantly were a custom design and build for that event. (Seen in action close up in the video at 6:46 - 6:49)
The whole lighting programme and execution is astonishing - and the rigger told me that the videos/DVDs etc of the event do not do any justice to how it actually was to be there.
Incredible.

Chemical Brothers at Rockness 2 years ago.
It was a gloriously sunny day, up until the sun was just starting to go down. We caught Groove Armada for an hour or so and staggered out to discover that God had switched on his very own smoke machine...
Just to give you an idea of the setting, you're standing up at the head of Loch Ness, amongst the rolling hills of the Great Glen.
As you can see it's a bit of a pea souper.
Which enhances lasers!

I think the locals must have genuinely believed the aliens had landed. Lasers reaching high into the skies, and bass trembling the hills.
Facking awesome show.
