Vinyl Record Catalogue Software - Any Pointers?

Hi,
I've been asked to create a proposal for a client that basically involves me having to propose a software package and costings of 2 people to input the data into a database for the clients use. Apparently he has some 28,000 vinyl records in storage and wants someone to go through every album and input them onto this database and then reference it accordingly.
Has anybody come across this before and does anyone have any suggestions on the best software package that worked for them? We're thinking about employing a couiple of people to bash through what there is and gather this could take 3 months.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
