Muse - The Resistance
Discussion
Is anybody else really looking forward to this?
I know United States of Eurasia has been played a bit on the radio, and although I didnt like it. It did give me a bit of a buzz about where they are going with this new album, as they generally seem to be quite different on each album.
I've now heard "Uprising" which is to be the first single off the album, and I really quite like it.
Anyone else?

I've only listened to USoE so far, but it does sound as if Muse have completed their transformation into Queen for the 21st century.
Listen to the next song, it sounds less Queen. Its only actually about 5 seconds of USoE that sounds like Queen. There is a whole 2 minutes that sounds like Chopin
Well now some of us have BOUGHT the album what do we think.....
For me first impressions (listened to the whole album once) are that its very very good. Fits exactly into the pattern of evolution Muse have developed through their albums. I'm also a real fan of the classical influence in some/most of the tracks... adds a real depth and complexity that most bands cannot hope to achieve... bit gutted that the Exogenesis is only 13 mins .... 13 mins is quite an acceptable length for one track in my books... have to say was expecting 3 parts of about 10 mins at least... ah well.... next time hows about a full 60 minute extravaganza Mr Bellamy.. 1 CD... 1 track!
Oh, and less of the French stuff please.. Even the French realise their language is awful and have to force their radio stations to play French music.
Also anyone else notice a bloody annoying crackle (effect)... esp noticable in the exogenesis symphonies? Or have I got a duff CD/CD drive on my PC?

My sentiments entirely. And it's all so big! Very keen on the complex arrangements and huge sound. Bellamy and co. are superb. I've been looking forward to this album for ages and it's not disappointed. On a first listen, I think it's less "accessible" than Black Holes and Revelations, fewer potential singles maybe? But no worse for that.I can see this one getting played to death for a while now.
