On the radio earlier was Body Rock, by Maria Vidal. Whilst sitting through this abomination, I started ticking off the 80s cliches and the list was quite impressive:

  • reference to her poor background
  • 'the kids' with poor backgrounds
  • nothing's gonna stop her, or them AND they'll stick together
  • possessing an inate musical connection or fire
  • heartbeat to heartbeat yuck
  • running along a city street in the dark
  • fleeing 'the man' and moving on with life
  • having a dream
  • 'the beat'

Are there any other songs that cheesily sum up the 80s, or another decade?

Everything I do by Bryan Adams has to be the cheesiest song of the 90s.

Any song that is ultra cheesy whilst trying not to be cheesy scores double points.

Evacuate The Dancefloor by Cascada gets my vote for the cheesiest song of now, and possibly of ever.

80's:

huey lewis - the power of love

bill medley/jennifer warnes - [i've had] the time of my life

bowie/jagger - dancing in the street

going back a bit. the cheesiest song of the 50's has to be tommy steele with 'singin the blues'. i'd never tire of punching this:

too many to list in the 90's/00's

Honey - Bobby Goldsborough
Biff The Friendly Purple Bear - Dick Feller

That pair should just about do the trick.

The theme from Titanic by that frightful Dion woman.... dreadful hackneyed lyrics, tuneless catawalling (and this is from a lifelong slayer fan), overly dramatic video montage, it ticks all the boxes for creating the perfect vomit inducing ballad.

Edited by Ted Maul - Just thinking about it stuffs my spelling

Are we talking "cheese" or just "comedy crap"?

A few suggestions......

Cheese:

70s or 70s (I love the home-made video to the second one!)

80s

90s

Comedy Crap:

70s

80s or 80s - just!

90s
