Hi All

I've got a significant birthday coming up and the ever wonderful Mrs DC has suggested she would like to find me a Fender guitar from 1970...

I have a 1982 Strat so I'm not massively worried whether it's a Strat (though that would be wonderful) but a Mustang, Jazzmaster or Jaguar would be cool (not a tele though - just don't gel with them). I am a Fender man though so it would be a Fender of some sort...

Question is, does anyone know a reputable dealer who either stocks vintage guitars or can get them...

Cheers

DC

Vintage and Rare guitars have branches in Bath and London. They usually advertise in Guitarist and seem to have decent stocks.

There used to be a place in Denmark Street in London next door but one (?) to Rokas that only sold vintage and high end gear . As I was into 80's pointy superstrats when I used to go to London to buy guitars (pre-internet)I never went in.

Happy 40th!

You have to have a Tele! They are wonderful guitars.

I'm 46 now...when I went to Uni I had to sell my Tele...I think it was about 1982/3. I'd owned it since 1979 and it was second-hand when I bought it. I sold it for £185..........at a profit!

I started playing again abot 4 years ago. May sell my Epiphone Goldtop for a Tele again..............?

What you really want is one of these.

Not mine, mine is white and no trem.

They are a bit left field and can be hard to find but does everything a Tele can and also covers off most LP sounds, I've had mine since 1976 and it will go in my coffin with me.

Do you have a price range to suggest?
I will be visiting a guitar man tomorrow and I can ask what he has or, knows what is available.

I've never bought anything off them but I always enjoy a nose around Angel Music in Denmark Street. You have to get buzzed in and go up some stairs to get to them just in case you can't see them initially. Vintage and Rare Guitars are in Denmark Street too and is also well worth a look.
