Chatting with a mate today and he sent me this tune:
Camisra - Let me Show you
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gt0CMOyWdNU

With a bassline that I'm sure I've heard time and time again in the late 90's

With some help from Mr Google, I can track it down to this track, but it's not the one I know
Sandy B - Make The World Go Round
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4omhvjmgX8

So where else has it been used?!

It's from the Deep Dish remix of Sandy B's Make the World go Round.

"Now, everyone from the Rolling Stones to the Shamen has tasted the Deep Dish remix magic. According to Ali, though, the mix that "wouldn't die" was a version of 'Make The World Go Round' for Sandy B, a track that found a new lease of life when Tall Paul lifted large chunks of it for Camisra's huge hit 'Let Me Show You'. Sharam calls Tall Paul's version "a blatant rip-off"

Deep Dish Vs Tall Paul

Camisra's recent club and chart smash 'Let Me Show You' bears a striking resemblance to the Deep Dish remix of Sandy B's 'Make The World Go Round'
Sharam from Deep Dish "It was a blatant rip-off. Do your own fking work! Don't steal from other people. When we take something from somebody we take it in a way that no one can figure out."

Tall Paul "The record was never meant to come out in the first place, it was just for me to play. The powers that be thought they could clear the sample. I knew it was a blatant f*cking rip off. But their mix was too slow. It was a pre-set bass sound [on the synthesiser]. They've got a chunk of the publishing. I wish they had said it to my face when I met them [on recent London visit]. I even said thank you to them for being so cool about it."

Where they (Deep Dish) got it from is harder to work out, it was a long time ago now and not really my area of expertise.

I'm sure I've heard a sample from the Camisra track somewhere else, I just can't think where.

Looks like I might be trawling my music collection tonight!

That Camisra track was originally released in 1998.

ETA: bd, you made me look at my records, now the neighbours are annoyed.

C'est la vie.
