There is good rap out there too! Don't the crap taint your pallet too much!
I believe that is like saying not all genocide is bad.Rap ultimately spawned from jazz & blues in the same way rock, and just about all other forms of modern music have done - just because you don't like it, does not mean it does not have any musical significance.
I'm not a fan of rap myself btw
2 rap lines that i think are genius:
zach de la rocha in his new band one day as a lion-" i`m targeting more foreheads than a priest on ash wednesday"
i can`t remember who this was but it`s the greatest rap line of all time-"i`m comin` at you just like a built up shoe, see i got mad soul" genius!!

And I often do this myself, however I make an exception for rap and related music-(spoken rather than sung stuff thats like poetry and sounds like it should rhyme but the artist cant pronounce the words correctly so it all sounds so forced --- the streets are a good example) -because I think the pain I would have to go through to find something I like would not be worth the reward.
And it clearly does have musical significance I cant deny that, although the term musical here is somewhat open to debate.
