Taking booze to festivals
Discussion
Right, I'm off to Madstock at Victoria Park on Friday and the plan was to take a few cans with me to "enhance the mood".
I was just wondering (not being a regular festival-goer) if this was allowed?
I was planning on cramming a few tinnies into the rucksack, but wondered if bags get searched?
Basically, can I take my own grog, or do I have to pay £75 a pint when I get there?

I went to see Paul Weller the other week at the outdoor venue on Cannock Chase, was suprised that you could take your own booze so long as it was in plastic bottles. I made full use of this policy.
Nice, relaxed place to see a concert too. Onsite bar was very reasonable with draught beers, food reasonable and the toilets clean and numerous.

V are notorious booze nazi's, but flares & football socks = 8 cans of lager walked straight in.
at blur t'other week i got in with 2 of those flat 35cl bottles tucked in my waistband.
if there is any security searching people, they'll have their hands full searching bags and jackets, so go light to avoid scrutiny.

Agree re: V festival. We usually fill Camelbacks up with festival strength cider or vodka and coke and then wear them under a loose fitting top. at blur t'other week i got in with 2 of those flat 35cl bottles tucked in my waistband.

Been to V a few times so have come up with a few tatics..
The Mule: Always use the most busy entrance for this one...Just cram as much booze into a rucksack and give it to a mate to take in. One in front and one behind and walk with confidence and give eye contact but walk briskly..As they do the thining time to check you will be in..
The Distraction .. Again same as above but one mate stays back and has an 'Attack' when you are just walking in..Again you should make it in while your mate is attended to..
The Spread.. Spread as many cans a thinly as possible between all of you and hope some get in and some don't
The Sneak..A bottle of cheap red bull drink stuff filled with Vodka..When they ask what it is..just say you need something to keep you going..
The Throw...Throw your booze over the fence..
