Can anyone suggest some albums?

Along the lines of Sigur Ros, Radiohead and Imogen Heap? I find the whole chilled out side of alternative rock to have some of the best songs.

I want to improve my CD collection as I haven't really bought any albums since I started using the internet for music.

Not really alternative rock, but Zero 7, Air, Blue States are nice chilled out electronica I like when lounging in the sun.

For acoustic guitar based stuff Ray Lamontagne and Jose Gonzales are pretty good.

Not exactly alternative "rock", but Thievery Corporation and Kruder & Dorfmeister do a nice line in chilled.

One of my favourite genres (often called Post Rock). Some varied bands out there but some of the CDs I like which sound like they would appeal to you are from these artists:

Mogwai
God is an Astronaut
Mono
Oceansize
Maserati

Yes!... although there are two sides to the band - the other being heavy. Try the track 'Music For A Nurse' to start though, quite Sigur Ros.

Ulrich Schnauss - Goodbye (his other albums are great, but more electronic shill out)
Talk Talk - Spirit of Eden

Good choices. Also try Eluvium, Boards Of Canada, Explosions In The Sky, The Album Leaf, Caspian, Set Fire To Flames, could also check out some of Brain Eno's work, although minimalist (like Eluvium).
