June Mix - Trance
Discussion
Hi everyone,
The final section of 'operation clear the decks' sees another Trance release - and this one is a bit of a corker (even if I do say myself). Latitude is a little bit of everything - massive synths, hard bass, soaring vocals, and an old tune to wrap things up.
After this, I am going to be concentrating more on 'building' sets, looking for more modern (newly released) tracks, that fit together in musical keys.
Hope you enjoy!
D
Latitude
Ehren Stowers - Forgotten
Boom Jinx & Oliver Smith - Sunrise (Volume Six Edit)
Andy Blueman - Sea Tides
Super8 & Tab ft Alyna - Delusion
Oliver Smith - Cirrus
The Chaser - Don't Look Back (Brownings Rmx)
Tom Colontonio - mercury Retrograde (Giuseppe Ottaviani Rmx)
Armin van Buuren ft Audrey Gallagher - Hold On To Me (John O'Callaghan Rmx)
FKN ft Jahala - Still Time (Aly and Fila Rmx)
Sunlounger -Lost (Aly and Fila Rmx)
CRW - I Feel Love (P.H.A.T.T Rmx)

Well, I personally like tracks that build up over time and then fade away. eg the track at 12'30. Just reminds me of when they go crazy with the laser patterns and the smoke machines.
A whole mix of just those tracks would be great. Well, in my opinion.

A couple of my fave current trance tracks are Ilya soloviev -lover summer (original mix)
And Lego -Planet Toxic
Can you mix chillout stuff ?- i guess its tricky as a lot has no drum intro
Some classic chillout stuff i like

sub sub -past
Lamb between -darkness and wonder

I'm a bit late, but thanks. Uplift all the way, proper trance but almost sounds old when you listen to all the prog stuff about now. Sea Tides is a classic upllift sound. This mix reminded me of Future Sound of Egypt (Aly and Fila), that sort of style. Re the "classics" mix, I love the '96 - 00 period, when I first started listening to this stuff at 15/16. BT - Flaming June, Space Brothers, Veracocha, Brainbug...blah blah, all the usual! Thanks again.
Random question - have you ever heard "John 00 Fleming - Global Trance Grooves" (monthly online radio show)

Sorry, havent listened to the mix, but am interested to hear your thoughts on this, are you looking into harmonic mixing / in-key mixing? After this, I am going to be concentrating more on 'building' sets, looking for more modern (newly released) tracks, that fit together in musical keys.
Are you going to be using one of the computer programs that identify the key, or are you musically trained / able to identify it yourself?
Ive been mixing for a while now and have read a few things about harmonic mixing but dont know anybody who has tried it.
My friends all rave on about Mixed In Key ( http://www.mixedinkey.com/), and I have to say that for a lot of Trance, it does sound a hell of a lot better generally. Obviously that there are some real exception, when a key change will improve the set.
What I hate about it, is that the DJ then thinks that they have to stay with that system, and aren't experimenting, and they won't be mixing, thinking that 'X' would sound really good in here...
