Which Drum Sticks?
Discussion
Hello drummers!
I've been playing with Vic Firth 7ANs for a while because I get knackered easily using a 5A, but I occasionally drop the 7A (presumably because I have big hands), and my main problem is that I seem to be getting through a set every month or so and wondered if there was much of a weight difference between wood and ally sticks, like the Ahead ones.
Has anyone tried them or got any recommendations? I've tried carbons, which lasted a fair bit longer, but I didn't like the weight balance as much.

I used to use Shawstix E but I don't know if they're still going as I heard they went under a bit back but was talk of a buy out...
Anyway, these are a bit thicker than 7a I think and we're ok enough. I have now moved on to Vic Firth Peter Erskine Ride Stick and it is by far the best stick I've ever used. I rim shot all the time (Ooh, doctor) and they hardly every break and sound great. I never believed that a stick could make so much difference but it can.
I just don't like the feel of anything other than wood.
