You lucky, lucky people.
It was my birthday recently, and family tradition has it we go out for a meal, and then home to turn the decks on. Only problem was that I had no new house to play - so a quick raid of the web secured me these little beauties.
Dirty Talk is exactly what it says on the tin - dirty, vocal house. I couldn't resist throwing a few remixes of old tunes in as well - you know what I'm like. So, enjoy! (For those of you who have asked, you download from the site by right hand clicking on the target, and go 'save target as'.
Set List:
Funk Fanatics ft Peyton - Love Is The Answer (Freemasons Rmx)
Emjae & Troia - La Isla Bonita
Richard Gray Vs Eric Morillo and Jose Nunez ft Shawnee Taylor - Life Goes On 2009
Liz Kay - You're Not Alone 2009 (Dave Darell Rmx)
Chris Lake ft Emma Hewitt - If You Knew
Cevin Fisher ft Loleatta Holloway - You Got Me Burning Up (Prok & Fitch Rmx)
The Heller and Farley Project - Ultra Flava (Martijn Ten Velden Rmx)
Robbie Rivera - In Too Deep (EDX Rmx)
The Squatters - Up To No Good
Hagenaar Albrecht - What Would We Do
The Bad Bankers - We F*cked You Up
STFU - Dirty Disco (STFU Edit)
Jesse Rose ft Hot Chip - Touch My Horn

Right, I’ve had a thorough listen now hehe Sounded spot on to me, I wish I could be more helpful from a technical/mixing point of view but it all sounded good to me. Nice track selection, I wasn’t too hot on “You’re Not Alone” but it worked great with “If You Knew.” Similar thing with “In Too Deep” and “What Would We Do”, not my favourite tracks (not as dirty an edge as the rest maybe?), but broke up the heavier tracks (Squatters…mad!) really well. “Life Goes On”…big tune. Usually I don’t like people tampering with classics like “Ultra Flava” but this has worked well, probably because the remix is so subtle, but enough to give it a modern flavour. The only slightly abrubt transition was "Life Goes On" into "You're Not Alone," perfect execution, but just didn't flow as nicely as the rest. If you're looking for criticism that's all i could come up with! There’s some random waffling for you, all imo, obviously!! This is one of best mixes you’ve done I’d say. Thanks for sharing as always. Do you get much feedback on Facebook from fellow djs and if so, what do they say?

Also, how do you keep up to date with the latest house/elctro/dirty? For trance, I mostly pick up tracks by listening to all the radio shows (Trance Around the World, GDJB, ASoT etc) and then go and get any tunes I particularly like. Any tips on how you keep on top of the housey stuff? Cheers.

Thank you for the feedback - and how right you are!

To be honest, this was the exact 'set' I played for the birthday celebrations - I just wanted to get it down for memories sake, rather than building a set! But yes, going into 'You're not alone' I could have paid a bit more attention to that channels volume.

As for tunage etc - this is really enbarrasing. I listen to the bassline, and then look at the name (for the remixes). I only download from http://www.djdownload.com because of the one hit downloading system (they use a Java control to allow you to just download everything in one hit).

As for the being a real DJ, I have DJ'ed professionally a few times (including to 60,000 on a beach in Thailand), and the thought does interest me, but having my own business and a family, means that it's nothing more than a fleeting thought. I know my tune selection and beatmatching are good enough, and my technical ability is getting better, but I'd never be a 'name' - as anything I do I want to be very good at.... Therefore I'm happy just doing this, and bringing some tunes etc into other peoples lives.
