It seems Colin Murray will be leaving radio 1 to go to Five Live.

It is a shame as I love the eclectic mix of music on there, it was the only thing that came anywhere close to John Peels show.

I just can't see the retarded Nick Grimshaw, who is due to be his replacement, being anywhere near comparable.

Who decides to replace a man who knows his music with a child with a very limited music knowledge, apart from what NME tell him.

Of the two, I always. Thought him the better of that disastrous 'marriage'
With,

ermmmmmm' Bowman.

Don't know that much of his musical. Tastes TBH, but perhaps I'll catch him elsewhere,

What slot will he be on?

For those who are music lovers his show is well worth a listen.

The best radio show of all the ones that I know of. It is a shame.

thank fk for that, his grating northern irish twang really got on my tits

Only Edith Bowman and that slag Sara Cox who cant stop talking about food and what she and her daughter Lola have been doing in their sham of a showbiz life to go.

The rest are all ok though!

I really can't understand why anybody would listen to the Beeb, when there's Planet Rock.

But then again, I'm an Old Fart, so what would I know.

Well i'm 'only' Thirty-Few and quite like a dose of Planet Rock. biggrin

However, Mark Jeeves gets rather predictable with his choice of tracks. His love of Neil Young and Jethro Tull boils my wee wee too as both irritate the stuffing out of me.

Apart from that he's ok. biggrin

This is sad news, I heard him mention it on the show on Tuesday. I'm not always listening to the radio in the evening but if I am it is always Colin Murray's show I hear and it is really good. I first heard The Hold Steady on his show, and they're now one of my favourite bands so I suppose I've got him to thank for that.

I'll really miss The Black Hole/Audio Bully as well - you don't get anything like that anywhere else on the radio.

Hope Nick Grimshaw does a good job, I don't hold out much hope but I'm willing to give him a listen...

I can't wait for the singing dancing Fish to come back on. Our musical tastes are almost identical.

Cannot stand Colin Murray on Radio 1, or when he presents football on Channel Five.

But I think he does an awesome job on "Fighting Talk" on Five Live.

Hugely entertaining.

Since getting a DAB radio at home I've realised that there is hope for those disillusioned with R1 but not ready for the majority of R2 programming; it's called 6 Music wink

Don't know if anyone heard his last shows but they were fantastic - they're all on iPlayer for the next few days, I'd certainly recommend listening or (ahem) downloading them if you can...the music was excellent, everything from Phil Collins through to Pavarotti through to The Hold Steady. And his choice of last song was particularly amusing and un-PC. hehe
