Unlikely cover versions.
Discussion
Just been listening to Joen Baez singing 'Diamonds and Rust', her own composition. Now of all people, Judas Priest covered this for their 1977 (I think) album 'Sin After Sin' and it's actually a bloody good version.
I'm sure there must be many similar examples of unlikely cover versions.....

>sniff< Brings back memories of the early 80s. I used to imagine listening to the original and driving down a coast road in a white Tasmin. Not a bad cover at all but still far prefer Don Henley's. I wonder if there is an acoustic version out there with a plaintive vocal.
Whilst looking for a video clip to prove why Led Zep's version of "Whole Lotta Love" shouldn't be used for the F1 theme (1970s Top Of The Pops music to F1? IDTS) I happened across this version. Tina Turner at her funky sensual best. Maybe a bit too much emphasis on the strings, but whoo baybee can I imagine this on a hot sultry summer night at Glastonbury with some herbal smoke drifting over the field. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guVgk6k1vaE
For unlikely covers done by people who actually know what they are doing, check YouTube for the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain and Hayseed Dixie covers.

Didn't he do a whole bunch of rock numbers? Including VH's 'Jump' which did not seem to work at allhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsS811o21-k

Not bad, but the original was an absolutely incredible track, and was what I listened to almost too much back in the day.back in the 90's, Neptune Theatre in Liverpool, saw some bloke called Mike Flowers.... pure cheese with a cheeky wink!
