Instructional Drumming DVDs?
Discussion
Hi all
Just a quick one; I've been playing drums for 16yrs, playing in bands for the past 5yrs and gigging frequently for the past 2 yrs.
I'm not a great drummer by any stretch of the imagination but am hoping to improve with a new practice regime - and considered an instructional drumming DVD to do it?!
Does anybody have any experience - there seems to be SO many I'm not quite sure what to go for!
For an idea of our music (it might make a difference) - have a listen on www.thedeccas.co.uk
Thanks
Tony

the Bonham and Police/Copeland DVDs from licklibrary are good for learning specific tracks.
For pure entertainment and a few surprises I liked the Ian Paice DVD.
The Toni Cannelli releases were great for me. para para diddles instead of regular hi-hats etc, i got a few tricks into my bag with that one.
"Big Time" was just plain awful, As is anything by the that crackpot kraut Thomas Lang. (my opinion)

Thank you, again
I've been looking at the Jack Bennett series - not cheap, btu they seem like really good value, have you any experience of them?
I've been playing for 16yrs now, and just want to brush up on rudiments, correct practices, and - as you say - get some new tricks in the bag!
Thanks for the tips

The red hot chilli peppers DVD by Chad Smith is great if your more into the groove rather than the technicalities.

Controversional, But ive just spent a while on the DVD collection I have on the back of your question.
It's about originality, dont copy anyone else.
1. Knock F**k out of them.
2. Do it with style and originality.
3. Look good while your at it.
untold riches and easy sex for those thst can achieve those.

I've been using Jojo Mayer's DVD for a few months and it's great, I can definitely feel an improvement in my playing and it's very well produced and easy to follow, and also totally suitable to an already competent drummer. Highly recommended:
