What do I need to buy?
Discussion
Im after some kind of recording/mixing device that can do the following,
accept signals from Guitar and bass (probably DI rather than mic).
accept stereo input from Roland V Drums OR from ezdrummer VST output.
accept output from Reason on PC.
accept a signal from novation x-station synth
and
If the lads ever come round, it should be able to record on at least 5 tracks independently. while playing back a guide track.
Would also like to be able to leave everything patched up so its like a one button record setup. Would be good if it USB'd to the 'puter and made CDs at the end as well I suppose.
Any ideas or clear winners.......I suppose its budget driven, so please not 4 figures, anything lower would be good.
Last time I looked ADATs were just coming out :-)

I've just bought a M-Audio Delta 1010Lt for doing exactly what you want.It has 10 inputs and 10 outputs plus midi inputs and am getting a quite low latencey of 6ms on a quite old PC.
It also is able to link up to 4 Cards so can have four times the fun.
All for £130.
