Just bought a Mesa Boogie f-100 Combo off that site where people sell all their knackered stolen goods, what's it again,oh yeah,Ebay. Now i've had an F-50 Boogie before and i know how loud they are, they can make your ears bleed at about quarter volume. This F-100 has just been delivered to me and i can put the volume all the way up standing a foot in front of it and the neighbours 'might' hear it,so there's obviously a problem somewhere. The amp is switchable between 60 and 100 watts and both of them are low in volume. All the valves seem to be lit up,can valves be faulty 'and' lit? From memory, being a while since i had a valve amp, they're not the brightest i've seen, especially the preamps. He said in the ad he had just replaced the power valves and that it was sounding 'like it did originally',well obviously not.If major things like transformers etc were faulty it wouldn't make any sound would it?

I'd take it to a pro, just to make sure it isn't actually dangerous before you start messing about with it. Bits of my JCM800 were live when I first got it yikes

Could just be the valves. Where abouts are you? Is there anyone local who might be able to help by swapping in/out some of their spare valves?
