Thunder calling it a day!
Discussion
Hi people,
A bit of info for all you 'Classic' Rock fans.. Thunder have announced today that they're calling it a day.. (again) After a spell away between late 2000 and 2003 they have been all systems go since but for some reason they've decided to pack it in as they celebrate 20 years since being together.
Enough of the schpeel. I think it's gonna be a shame. I've been a fair fan of Thunder for a good few years now and Danny Bowes' voice never seems to deteriorate at all.
Gonna be a shame to see a good British rock band go....

That's a great shame. Thunder were a band who I've followed since the Terraplane days.
Mentioned them in the 'bands that should have been huge' thread here : http://pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Always thought they were a bit naff to be honest. Still, always sad to see another british metal stalwart cease to exist.

Well i'm a bit 50/50 to be honest. I think Danny Bowes is one of the best singers out there. I don't think i can remember a single bad night for him. Definitely one from the 'cheeky-chappy' school of front men.g
I think Luke Morley is a great guitarist and a good songwriter but i do believe the band has suffered from 90% of the music being written predominantly by Luke.
Their first two albums were fantastic and their Donington performance back in '90 was epic. Definitely a young band who went for broke. (and considering Danny Bowes had a throat infection before the gig and hadn't spoken a word for a number of days before the 1st words on the big stage)
I'm also a fan of 'Behind Closed Doors' and 'Shooting at the Sun' but there are a few that leave me cold.
Still a loss in my book with 'Classic' rock having a great year in 2008
Where have you heard this? Website still up and showing no new news. They have only just released a new album and have tour dates planned.
ETA : Sorry just found the news on MySpace http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog...

I don't know anything about the band Thunder but maybe this is just marketing? How many bands have called it a day then came back or reincarnated?
I've actually been to BOTH of Tina Turner's Official farewell concerts in Vienna (1990 & 1993 - I was young and had no choice ) and she's been back twice since and will be back once again in August 2009. In rock n' roll there is no final curtain call.

My bet is on Danny joining up with JP,JPJ and JBJnr.
Well the news from Thinny is that it's Danny that wants to call it a day as with all the site management, record company stuff (since they have their own) and other administrative stuff etc he is just too busy and is pretty burnt out..Would be great to see him with the Zepplin boys but i wouldn't hold my breath to be honest.
