And I mean really listened properly i.e. sitting yourself in the ideal position between the speakers of a decent stereo, eyes closed, no interruptions, an entire album start to finish, original CD/vinyl/SACD/DVD-A.

So NOT listening in a car, or wearing an iPod set to shuffle and compressed to 128kbps or while doing the ironing, or throwing some shapes/playing air-guitar etc.

For me, it was Insurgentes on DVD-A 5.1 audio mix by Steven Wilson.

Probably Rust In Peace by Megadeth, or Master of Puppets by Metallica.
Although I must confess to a little air guitar... biggrin

Amused to Death - Roger Waters, CD on my Cyrus rig. Always stops me in my tracks and forces me to listen. Depresses the hell out of the wife tho!

Elbow - the Seldom Seen Kid.

I was in a 747 flying back from San Francisco, we hit turbulence like i have never experienced before, flight attendants were strapped in and wouldn't get out of their seats fo fear of being thrown all over the cabin.

I plugged myself into my Blackberry and listended to the album all the way through. I was in a state of complete relaxation. cloud9

One hell of an album, very underrated IMO.

..I try to do this with any album I like, and when trying out a new album that I think I should like.

I think the last was wither Akercocke's 'Choronzon' or Darkane's 'Insanity'.

Doesn't make me smile much either wink but great album. Makes you question yourself.

Last album I listened to properly was Genesis' Lamb Lies Down on Broadway.

My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts by David Byrne and Brian Eno a couple of weeks back.

No option but really listen as it's not exactly dance or background music...

yes Very much so.. One of Roger Waters' best.

My latest must be Guns n Roses - Chinese Democracy. It's a complex album but it rewards the careful listener.

What about the [infinity symbol] on the end?

Good album - did you know that the vinyl and CD versions of the album are
different, and you really need to have both of them.

Kenny Wheeler - Music For Large and Small Ensembles (the Large Ensemble disc) - I listened start to finish through it the other night. Quite simply some of the most fantastic writing for a big band ever, and a genius composer/trumpet player.

A break from the norm here, but a mixed album called fix your face by DJ AM and Travis Barker is really very good..

I'll admit that there are a couple of moments that don't gel too well, but the majority is very very good indeed!

Google it for more details (and download if I remember rightly)

Just working my way through the latest Genesis boxset 1970-75, remixed in 5.1. Sounds great compared to the original CD. need to get hold of a decent SACD player and try that next.

Funny thing is that it was Orishas, and I have no idea what they were saying... Other than that, probably Space Oddity, or Final Cut
