I just sold my Mesa Boogie Studio 22 - it was way too powerful for me these days since I stopped playing live - so I'm on the look out for a replacement...

Thing is I play a wide range of stuff from jazz through to rock. I would really like a warm rounded tone from the amp as I can add distortion through effects pedals but getting that real jazz sound is a bit elusive.

I haven't got a massive budget maybe £600 for something perfect but really £300 would be ideal and I reckon 15w max from a valve amp, maybe a bit more for solid state.

So what about it - what do you guys reckon. Whenever I find interesting amps with sound clips all they are is some metal head shredding like a nutter so I can't really tell whether it's be any good for me or not!

Cheers for any advice

I asked a similar question and one of the recommendations was for a Line6 Flextone.

I haven't bought one yet, but read all of the reviews and am just waiting until I can demo one - I'm pretty sure I'll like it though.

Thats a pretty flexible amp!

Thanks for that - picked up a Flextone 2 with floorboard yesterday. Fits the bill just nicely. Never through I buy a modeling amp but the sounds it tips out a great...

Only problem I've got now is that I can't work it yet!

Cheers

Whenever these 'i want a cheap, versatile amp' topics come up i always recommend the Flextone.I pull sounds out of this thing i've been wanting in my head for years.Plus you can download all your favourite guitarist sounds from various websites by midi straight into your amp and store them!I sold a Boogie too(dc5)before this and don't miss it.
