Well, prompted by all this stuff that went on over christmas, I decided to root out my old JB CD's. Blimey, I truly had forgotten how good his stuff was.

Any other fans?

I go through phases of either being bowled over and in tears listening to Last Goodbye or Dream Brother, or finding his vocal acrobatics a bit tedious. When all is well in the world though his music is life-affirming.

Yeah not really listened since school.

So decided to download his album.

Also found there was another one he made after his death. So downloaded Sketches for my Sweetheart the Drunk as well.

Just a shame he didn't get to number one over the annoying Simon Cowell latest face for the year.

I bought "Grace" a year or so ago based on a small article in Guitarist magazine. I like. Some excellent playing in there, and his voice is like cut glass.

hallelujah and last goodbye = great.

all the rest = pretty rubbish to distinctly average

Grace, the song, is excellent - great musicianship, lots of lovely litle details in the production and the way his voice goes from calm to primal during the song is very Bowie 'Heroes'

well you chose to put it at that point on my scale smile

sure his voice was pretty unique/haunting but he is way overrated.

His Dad was much better. "Dream Lettter" must rate as one of the great live recordings IMHO.
