I have a digitech RP5 effects pedal. It's getting on a bit, and now half the big buttons don't work. Notably scroll up/down and distortion. Can it be fixed if I take it into a shop, and how much is it likely to cost me?

Depends what is causing it. If the switch needs replacing, you're better off buying a new unit (the new RPs have USB capability too, which makes patch editing one whole hell of a lot easier) but they are prone to getting dirty. Have a go with some good contact cleaner (Deoxit or what have you) and if that doesn't clean it up then it's probably not worth your while.
