Ive read loads over the years including, Cobain, Wood, Kiedis, Hendrix,Ian Brown, Morrison, Clapton, Morrissey/Marr, Strummer, Lemmy, Bolan, Maiden, Pearl jam. Currently reading Slashs (which is excellent!) . Always on the lookout for these - any notables that stand out for you guys?

The Cobain one was a harrowing read but exceptional i thought

Nikki Sixx's Heroin Diaries is awesome, funny and very dark at the same time.

On the same lines - 'the dirt' about Motley Crue; even if you can't stand the band the story is incredible. How the hell they are alive is beyond me...

slash mentions nikki sixx and tommy lee a few times in his book. basically saying they were the only 2 that kept up with him or even pushed it further. I think sixx's book will be next

Nikki definately pushed it further! You'll understand when you've read the book so I won't say anymore!

I must admit I haven't read 'The Dirt' yet so that will be next for me, Motley and Nikki in particular were heroes of mine when I was about 14 so it is of particular interest to me. I'll probably get round to the Slash one at some point too.

Lemmy's White Line Fever is a top read, and i very much enjoyed The Dirt too
i'm not a particularly big Motley fan either, but that is one seriously debauched collection of memoirs! biggrin
Joel McIvers biog of Metallica "And Justice For All" is currently sitting on my bookshelf, might give that a bash soon

Is that "Dear Boy" you're reading. If so it's superb. The Gold Lamee suit story, and the skating rink arson are faves of mine. Also the fact that he used to write "I luv Keith" on the side of the band bus in lipstick, to annoy Daltrey - genius.

Ian Hunters book 'Dairy of a rock and roll star' is suuperb, it gives a real flavour of the time so well worth reading even if your not a huge Mott the Hoople/Ian Hunter fan. A very honest book.

Try "fked By Rock" by Mark Manning, formerly known as Zodiac Mindwarp.

Equally disgusting and hilarious.

Frank Zappa: The Biography is great.

Walk This Way - The Story of Aerosmith is good too (I have copy signed by the band)

Hammer of the Gods is a good read, can be picked up for a couple of quid in Bargain Books
