I'm full of questions this week.

As i'm moving soon, i'm starting to look at all the stuff I have moved from house to house over the years and I have two large boxes of vinyl records from years ago.

Many are picture discs, coloured vinyl, white labels or imports with artists ranging from Rolling Stones to Nirvana to 808 State (who?).

Are they worth anything these days? If so, how do I go about getting them valued?

Toddle down to Borders books and get yourself a copy of Record Collecter magazine (can i say that on a Haymarket forum?) while you're there have a look for a book that's like Glass's Guide for records, just im buggered if i can remember what it's called. Ask the spotty youth behind the counter or google it.

If your struggling let me know and i can ask a man...

Unless you have a numbered copy of the White Album by the Beatles of a original pressing if Desrali Gears then i want them!

Are you mad?

Cubik is one of the greatest records ever made.

Go and buy a copy of 'Record Collector' that will be a guide, look on eBay etc.

I have to say though, shame on you, selling records is sacriligeous.

I do agree, but I have moved them around for the last 17 years without playing them, ever.

I asked a very similar question here.

http://pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t...

The answer is probably not a lot. I did get in touch with a collector/reseller who made a few offers on some of them but it's subject to you sending them the records, they inspect them to ensure they meet their standards rolleyes and any that don't are sent back at your expense. Prices ranged from a couple of quid up to £15 for the rarest.

Ours are back in the loft.

buy record collector by all means but unless you discover anything really rare then the values are somewhat optimistic to say the least.

ebay is the best bet if you just want rid. sell the decent ones as single items and group the ones you know will struggle to attract a bid.

if you put a list together i wouldn't mind seeing it.
