Kanye West- Thoughts on 808 & Heartbreak & his blog
Discussion
Had a quick listen to the album as well reviewed by the broadsheets and not yet convinced, but interesting departure so will listen more.
Also he now has a Blog he posts 10 times a day (and apparently is all him)
clothers/architecure/furniture/semi-clad women/yachts etc worth a look
http://www.kanyeuniversecity.com/blog/
And he was seen unwinding by playing Connect 4 with Damon Albarn after his last gig as loves it (Guardian) How bizzare,
An interesting charater getting more iteresting; Im curious to see how he carries on

Not sure that this thread will get much response in the music forum...
ETA: I have a vastly diverse taste in music, but this current crop of American ste is seriously taking the piss The gym I go to has Fox on the big screen with a "music" channel playing... Fortunately my PT is a musician (fellow bassist) and agrees to change channels when I mention it. Nearly every song is the same, "vocals" which sound like they're being processed by a Stylaphone, and bland nothingness in the background. Meanwhile real musicians are struggling...
So many kids here are conned by the "everyone likes this so you should" marketing crap. I'm constantly trying to expose my kids to quality music (although it's not easy when my ex who they live with runs from Abba to Celine Dion )

But I quite like the Kanye album, it is a listen through album, rather than lots of odds and ends stuck on one cd.
Music isn't just about playing instruments best. It is what sounds good to you. Otherwise the biggest bands of the past 60 years wouldn't have done very well as musically they weren't good. Elvis, Beatles and the entire 80's are some good examples.
I was going to write on here without even listening to it, but instead I went to the site and gave it a try and quelle surprise, it was as bad as I expected. How people listen to this 'music' is beyond me. Its terrrrrriiiibbblllleeee! Sound effects, no proper tune, obsessed with material things, and that filter on the voice - shocking. I bet even he doesnt like it but he only does it for the money so that he can drive a rangerover sport at 7mph aiit.
