Hello just wondered what sort of price I could get if I decide to sell my trumpet. It is a Yamaha YTR - 2235 and is in very good condtion with original box, instructions etc.. and just wondered whether some music expert could give me an idea of value.
Regards

You obviously took a shine to it, I guess it gave you the horn, and you blew a lot of money on that trumpet. I'd be brassed off if I couldn't sell a trumpet like that.. etc etc.Regards

Hello
I've got a couple of pupils after a decent intermediate trumpet (Which is what you've got)
I'd reckon £150-200 quid depending on the condition.
Okay thanks for that was in the ball park I was hoping for if they decide they want that model give me a pm if they would be interested in buying a used one as will be selling it pretty soon after I take it to the music shop tomorrow to be checked over and make sure it is in tip top condition.I've got a couple of pupils after a decent intermediate trumpet (Which is what you've got)

I'll see both pupils next week, so will let you know
Ask about value in the music shop as well, as I may be wrong.
Check the inside part of the valves (the bit you oil) is still silver in colour, and hasn't started getting brown patches where the brass is coming through.
Thats the most common place for a trumpet to wear, and will knock the value right down, as they'll need replating to make the valves run smoothly.

Okay thanks for that checked the valves they seem fine and the trumpet still play's like new as I am grade 6 so can tell that it is playing correctly. Only problem is bit of lacquer rubbed of under main slide tuning valve thing through a stand I had to put on for band. And one of the valve end caps does not go on properly as the thread is a bit mashed but hopefully will get this sorted out before I sell. Ask about value in the music shop as well, as I may be wrong.

A bit of laquer missing is no problem
I'll PM you when I've seen pupils, talked to parents etc, and you've been to the music shop.
I had a call from a parent earlier today who's daughter is wanting to move from a beginner cornet to an intermediate trumpet so hopefully we should be able to sort something out.
Dave.

They had a look at it and said it seems fine i have managed to get the thread to work properly on the end of the valve (the cap thing on the bottom) now, it is still a bit stiff but works fine now and is a lot better than it was. With regards to value its rrp new is 450 pounds man said in good nick used price would be around 250 but I would be happy to sell for around 175 including delivery if required (would probably get my dad to bring down in the car and deliver in person to avoid problems) as it does have some minor damage to the lacquer under the main tuning slide as I mentioned will try and get some pictures uploaded later.

Here are some pictures I took:-
Damage under the main slide
Minor damage on the end valve cap which is a bit stiff to turn as the thread is a bit dodgy still works fine though.
Overall though you can see that is in pretty good condition and that it has been well look after.

Hello
RRP may be £450, but you can find it for £330 if you look hard enough.
£175 sounds like a good price.
I will see one of my pupils tomorrow, and will phone the other one and let you know Monday night or Tuesday.
Dave
