I have some guitars sitting round the place that barely get touched these days and I fancy something new to motivate me to get playing again. I'm completely broke at the minute so was wondering what the odds would be of being able to trade them in against something new (to me).

I assume places take guitars in part ex, but ideally I'd be looking to chop in 2 or 3 in exchange for 1 with no (or very, very little) money parting hands. Is this something that anywhere would be likely to be interested in, just swapping stock about?

I have an Epiphone Les Paul Std in cherry sunburst, an Ibanez S470DXQM in a reddy brown (both of these are mint) and something I've never been sure about...a Squire strat neck but with a non-regular strat body. It's got no scrachplate, a humbucker at the bridge, lead socket in the side of the body rather than the face and knurled metal knobs. I assumed it was just something someone kocked together, but I once saw another one identical in a shop window.

I'd like to get my hands on a half decent US Telecaster if possible.

I also have a Peavy Classic 30 that's probably had under 5 hours use (love the amp, but it's too big/loud for my flat) and I could chop that in too, if I could get something smaller back with the Tele.

Would I stand a chance looking for a deal like this anywhere or is everyone only interested when there is cash involved?

ETA: The Squire is identical (even the colour) to this one, except mine doesn't have a floating floyd rose style trem. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3lt3isNCU0

I would have thought most music shops would do you deal of some kind.... You'll get Bu@@er all PX value, which I think you realise.
US strats are about £800 for a standard so you may have to add a little money to your collection..

You could get a highway 1 tele for £450 which would be american made. I have a highway 1 strat which I love to bits.

I'd sell what you have on ebay to be honest, you'll get naff all in a shop.

I was going to ask you how much you wanted for the amp but you're miles away. You might find that it's more cost effective to get an attenuator for the amp rather than selling it and buying something new and smaller.
