Custom Made Guitars

Ok,
This is mainly for people who have custom made guitars, or have owned one. Im conducting some research for my business project, and just want to know what makes you go for a customised guitar, your help will be much appreciated!!

I would have thought that getting exactly what you want, however strange the specification, is the point of getting a custom guitar isn't it?

Never owned one, but was very close in my younger days when in a band.

I think that uniqueness and personal touch are the key factors, along with being able to choose the right electrics to produce your desired sound and to influence the size/scale of the fretboard to suit your playing style and preferences.

In would have thought it's mainly for features not available on one instrument, or at a certain quality.

(When I was younger I always wanted a flying V bass, with jazz pickups and a 70's precision neck, not any more I don't !).

Trem or no trem
Pick Ups
etc

On my Jackson ATX I have removed the Jackson pickups and put on Joe Satriani ones - not a factory or Jackson option so had to do it myself.
